Troubleshoot missing server-side events

Trace the event path one stage at a time. An event reaching the BonicBD server, being forwarded, and appearing in an advertising report are separate checks.

Before you begin

  • The tracking subdomain and the BonicBD container you intend to test.
  • Access to the site’s GTM Preview, BonicBD dashboard, and destination diagnostics.
  • A test event that does not contain real customer or payment information.

1. Check the tracking domain

Open the tracking subdomain and check the domain and SSL status shown in the BonicBD dashboard. Confirm the DNS CNAME still points to the target documented for your container.

2. Check snippet placement and GTM Preview

Compare the installed snippets with Dashboard → Setup Guide for this container. Confirm the head, body noscript, and integrated tracker snippets are present in the documented locations.

  1. Open GTM Preview and confirm the expected web tag fires for the test action.
  2. Confirm the Server container URL matches the tracking domain configured for this container.
  3. Use the exact variable and field mapping values shown in the dashboard guide.

3. Check server collection

Open BonicBD real-time analytics and look for the test request. If it is absent, re-check the browser request, tag trigger, container URL, and DNS before investigating destination-platform reporting.

4. Check destination forwarding

If the request appears in BonicBD, use GTM Server Preview to inspect the tag and its destination response. Then check the destination platform’s own Event Manager or DebugView. Platform reports may not update at the same time as server collection.

5. Share a safe support report

If the issue remains, contact support with the tracking hostname, platform, approximate test time, and which stage failed. Do not include access tokens, passwords, raw customer identifiers, or unredacted event payloads.
