Configure your BonicBD tracking domain

Use a subdomain on a domain you control and point it to the BonicBD CNAME target. Confirm the current target in your account if the dashboard shows a different value.

Before you begin

  • A BonicBD container created in your account.
  • Permission to add or edit DNS records for your domain.
  • The exact CNAME target displayed in the BonicBD setup guide.

1. Choose a tracking subdomain

Choose an unused subdomain such as tracking.yourbrand.com, server.yourbrand.com, or gtm.yourbrand.com. Enter the full hostname in the BonicBD dashboard.

2. Add the CNAME record

At your DNS provider, create a CNAME record using the host and target below. The existing BonicBD setup guide documents connect.bonicbd.com as the target; use the value currently shown for your container.

Type: CNAME
Name: tracking (replace with your chosen subdomain label)
Target: connect.bonicbd.com
TTL: 300 or your DNS provider default
Note: Do not replace the CNAME with an IP address. If you use Cloudflare, the BonicBD guide says to set the record to DNS only (proxy off) while SSL provisioning is completed.

3. Verify the domain before installing tags

Return to the container’s setup guide and use its domain verification status. Continue with the generated snippets only after the dashboard recognizes the domain and its SSL state. DNS propagation time depends on your DNS provider and record changes.

Common DNS mistakes

If verification does not complete, compare the record name and target character-for-character with the dashboard, check for conflicting records on the same hostname, and confirm that any DNS proxy setting matches the setup instructions.
